This is a painting of the home of John and Catherine Smith. I did this painting in my early years of begining to paint. This is oil on canvas. I had several first's in this painting. I struggled with the brick, the shingled roof, and the autos in the carport. They requested the painting at a time when their flowers were blooming. I can see several things that I could improve on, but we don't realize that until later when we have honed our skills somewhat.

Nice to hear from you.

The owners of this home commissioned me to paint this and they were very pleased with results, so I was happy too.

I've been busy, busy 'pickin and shellin' purple hull pink eyes to put in freezer. The pink eye peas are very similar to black eye peas.

Trying to do a little art also.

Been keeping up with weather news, as the hurricane heads to Texas and Mexico. Not very far from my coastline, but looks like we will not be involved with this one. Looks like it will not effect the oil rigs in that area.

Jeanette, I can imagine how happy they must have been with it!

I have never heard of 'purple hull pink eyes' They sound exotic. Did you grow these yourself?

Glad to hear you are keeping up with the art...little is good!

I have not heard about the hurricane, glad it will not effect you and i will pray that it blows itself out and leaves everyone alone.

Pat, I did not grow the peas, although we have grown them many times. A friend invited us to come and pick them at no cost. We didn't realize there would be so many - about 3 1/2 bushels. We picked for 2 hours beginning high noon, with temp of 94 degrees F. After shelling and blanching, we put 54 mealsize bags in the freezer. LOTS OF PEAS!! So I worked with that most of the day and now I am pooped, (not a bathroom expression), just tired. If you ever get to Mississippi, USA, on the Gulf Coast, I will cook some of them for you. Just hope we do not lose electricity if a hurricane comes our way. We have been, through the years, in the center, and almost in the center of Hurricane Camille, Frederick, and Katrina. The hurricane today hit an area that is a national seashore near the Texas MS coast, at 89 MPH winds, which is not very powerful, but of course there was some damage. The people there really needed the rain though.

I am ready to get back to painting.
Many Hugs
